Health System Administration Individual Occupational Requirements
Education: Major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with coursework in health care administration.
Experience:
GS-5: Work demonstrating knowledge of fundamental principles and practices in health care delivery system management (administrative officer, management analyst, or program manager in healthcare settings).
GS-6+: Progressively responsible analytical, administrative, or clinical management experience in health care facilities demonstrating knowledge of:
- Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems
- Regulations and standards of regulatory and credentialing groups
- Government administrative systems (budget, personnel, procurement)
- Management ability to delegate authority, evaluate programs, and adapt to changing priorities
Alternative: Successful completion of agency-sponsored on-the-job training program in operating health care system.
