How the score works.
No black box. You start at 100 and lose points for the things a civilian recruiter or a federal rater trips on. The same resume gets the same number every time, because the math is fixed and it is right here. Add a posting and the number is a match percentage instead: how much of what they ask for your page actually shows.
- 80 to 100. Civilian-ready. Tailor it to a real posting next.
- 60 to 79. Readable, with holes. Usually a handful of fixes.
- Under 60.Won’t translate yet. Not an experience problem. A wording problem.
- Match: 75 and up strong fit, 50 to 74 in the running, under 50a long shot as written. “Partly shown” counts half. A requirement the posting calls preferred counts half.
Who this is for.
Getting out.
Nobody warns you that the first resume you write may be in a language the hiring manager does not speak. “Platoon Sergeant” means a lot to us. To them it may mean nothing. This shows you where that is happening on your page, line by line.
Out for years, want a better job.
Your resume is probably fine. Fine is not the same as matched. Run it, see the keywords your field asks for that are not on the page, then tailor it to the posting you actually want.
Going federal, served or not.
Pick Federal above. A federal rater credits time per position and needs the specialized experience in plain words, and a federal resume is two pages. The scan checks the page count and the format a rater looks for, whether you are coming from the military, a company, or another agency.
Military spouse.
Moves and gaps are not the problem. How they read is. The scan grades the writing, not the timeline.
Straight answers.
Is it really free?
Yes. The score, the deductions, and the top fixes show with no account and no email. Your email unlocks the rest of the flagged lines and mails you the report. A free BMR account is what rewrites it for a real job.
Do you keep my resume?
The file, no. The text, for 7 days, so the mailed report and the rewrite can read it, then it is deleted. Emails and phone numbers are stripped before it is read. If you sign up, it moves into your account like any upload. Details on the privacy page.
What does a 71 mean?
Readable, with holes. The deductions under the number tell you which holes and how much each one cost. Fix the top one and run it again; the number moves because the math is fixed, not because the mood changed.
How many times can I run it?
A few a day. Fix, re-run, fix, re-run is the point. Past that, sign up free and tailor it inside BMR, where the rewrite is the product.
