Chen’s transition

Chen spent his Air Force enlistment on the technical side of the house. Configuration management first, then network operations and vulnerability management, then IT support. The skills were real. The problem every transitioning airman runs into is that a civilian hiring manager does not read an Air Force work history the way the Air Force does.

Chen did not try to solve that with one resume.

He opened his BMR account in February and built twenty-six targeted resumes over the next six months, one for each role he went after. Help desk. Desktop support. Junior systems administrator. Systems analyst. He wrote nine cover letters and tracked twenty-nine applications along the way.

Then he wrote in to say he had landed a job, and that he had already been recommending BMR to friends and family who serve or have served.

That last part is worth sitting with. Twenty-six resumes is not a story about a tool that works on the first try. It is a story about someone who kept aiming, and had something that let him aim again without starting over every time.
