Daniel’s transition

Daniel spent more than two decades in the Navy and reached Master Chief Petty Officer, the most senior enlisted rank in the fleet. For 26 years he led food service and logistics operations for large crews. The kind of high-tempo work that keeps thousands of sailors fed and supplied around the clock.

When he started planning his transition, he set his sights on defense contracting. He hit the same wall most senior leaders do. He had run massive operations for years, but that experience does not automatically read the right way to a civilian hiring manager.

So while still in uniform, on terminal leave, he went to work in Best Military Resume. He did not build one resume. He built a whole bank of them, tailoring a different version for each role he wanted and lining his experience up against each job description.

Then the offer came. He accepted an analyst position in defense contracting.

What he wrote back said it best. He has been recommending the site to all of his fellow Navy shipmates heading for the door, because the approach worked.

Twenty-six years of leading people and running operations was always enough. It just had to read that way to the person doing the hiring.
