Darrell's Story

Darrell gave the Air Force two decades. Twenty years in manpower and personnel, from noncommissioned officer up to chief, keeping whole units staffed and organized at bases stateside and overseas. He retired as a Master Sergeant.

Getting out is one transition. Getting picked back up after time out of work is a harder one. Darrell knew exactly what he had done in uniform. The challenge was getting a civilian hiring manager to see it fast.

So he worked the job search the way he ran a shop. Methodically. He subscribed to Best Military Resume and tailored ten different resumes over four months, one for each role he chased. Federal management analyst jobs. Private-sector program and HR positions. Each one rebuilt to match that specific posting.

He did not land it on the first resume. Or the fifth. He kept going.

Then the email came. He finally got picked back up. He starts July 13.

Ten resumes. Four months. One yes. That is what the grind actually looks like.
