Keith’s transition

Keith spent nearly 25 years in the Air Force and finished as a Chief Master Sergeant, the top of the enlisted ranks. His last assignment was directing aircraft maintenance. Over the years he led teams that ranged from five people to 220.

When he started his transition, he did what most people do. He went after the jobs that matched his record. He built his resumes on BMR and sent out about 40 of them, all aimed at work that lined up with his military background.

It worked. He got a handful of offers.

But they were not the jobs he actually wanted. Sitting with it, he realized he was not ready to go back to a traditional 9-to-5 with little flexibility. The offers fit his experience. They did not fit the life he wanted next.

So he changed direction completely and went after a different field. He used BMR to translate nearly 25 years of military accomplishments into results that made sense to employers who had never worn a uniform. Across his search he built 19 different tailored resumes.

Two companies called him back quickly. Both invited him to interview. He accepted a position he says he could not be happier with.

He now recommends BMR to every friend he has who is retiring.
