Michael’s transition

Michael spent about two decades in the Navy, and the work changed a lot along the way. He came in running heavy equipment and construction crews. He finished as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) leading law enforcement, antiterrorism, and physical security operations at installations around the world, with 80-plus people under him.

His own read on the problem: "E7 in the Navy is hard to translate like other ranks."

Michael built his base resume the day he opened his account in April. Then he went to work, one role at a time. Ten tailored resumes in all, and nine of them inside a single month, each one built for a specific job he was chasing.

He landed a facilities management role paying over $100K.

The part he wanted other veterans to hear is that the right tool mattered more than the amount of help. He had used plenty of outside help before this, and it produced rejections. His advice is to start looking early, use every tool you can but make sure it is the right one, and keep pushing when the rejections come.
