Zack's Story

Zack Leavitt spent nine years in the Army as a 92F Petroleum Supply Specialist before transitioning out in June 2024. Most of that time was Colorado Springs - Arms Room NCO, HAZMAT Certifier, Retention NCO, Operations NCO, then Platoon Sergeant by the end. A Staff Sergeant carrying the kind of duty positions that don't translate cleanly to civilian titles unless someone puts in the work to rewrite them.

He landed at a defense contractor as a Project Manager II right after transition. Good job. But not the job.

About eighteen months in, he set his sights on a Principal Information Systems Project Manager role at a major defense prime. Hybrid. Twenty minutes from his front door. His dream role.

Zack came to BMR in January 2026 and built five resumes over the next three months. A base resume first. Then tailored versions for Program Manager roles in federal program management, a senior proposal operations seat in private industry, and on April 5th the dream-job target.

Six weeks later he got it. Start date June 15.
