About the Role

The Pediatric Institute of Corpus Christi Location: Corpus Christi, Texas Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | No Weekends | No Inpatient Rounding Compensation: $200,000 Base + Production Bonus + Partnership Opportunity About The Pediatric Institute of Corpus Christi The Pediatric Institute of Corpus Christi is an independent pediatric practice dedicated to providing personalized, comprehensive care to children from newborn through young adulthood. Our practice provides preventive and wellness care, newborn care, immunizations, asthma and allergy management, nutrition and weight counseling, sports medicine, mental health screening and intervention, telehealth, and other general pediatric services. The Pediatric Institute is also a member of the Texas Children’s Care Network, helping connect patients with a broader network of specialists when advanced care is needed. We are currently a solo-physician practice and are seeking a pediatrician who wants more than their next employed position. This is an opportunity to help grow an established private practice, develop a patient panel, receive direct physician mentorship, and potentially become a partner. The Opportunity You’ll practice comprehensive outpatient pediatrics with a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to young adults. The typical schedule includes approximately 20–30 patients per day across 4.5 clinical days per week, with flexibility in how the schedule is structured. Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with approximately a 1.5-hour midday break and dedicated administrative time built into the workday. Clinical responsibilities include: • General outpatient pediatrics • Newborn and well-baby visits • Preventive and wellness care • Acute and chronic pediatric illnesses • Immunizations and routine physicals • Asthma and allergy care • Nutrition and weight management • Adolescent and young-adult care • Behavioral and mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and related conditions • Coordination with specialists when higher levels of care are needed There is no inpatient work, hospital rounding, or weekend clinic. Telephone call volume is low, typically averaging only 1–2 calls per week. As the practice grows from one to two physicians, call coverage is expected to transition to an alternating arrangement. Practice Support & Technology We want our physicians focused on patients rather than spending their evenings completing charts. The practice utilizes eClinicalWorks (eCW) and offers multiple documentation options, including: • Traditional typing • Dictation • AI-assisted scribing • In-person scribe support • Medical Assistant support Approximately one hour of administrative time is built into each workday. The practice does not currently utilize APPs, allowing the incoming Pediatrician to work directly alongside the physician owner and clinical support team. Compensation Base Salary: $200,000 annually In addition to base compensation, the incoming physician will be eligible for a production-based bonus beginning Day 1, creating the opportunity for compensation to grow alongside patient volume and productivity. Most importantly, this position is being built with a long-term future in mind. Partnership Opportunity A partnership opportunity is available following completion of the first year. We are especially interested in a physician who is enthusiastic about helping build and grow a private practice, someone with initiative, an entrepreneurial mindset, and an interest in having a meaningful voice in the future of the organization. This can be an attractive opportunity for a physician who ultimately wants greater autonomy and ownership than a traditional health-system-employed position can provide. Benefits The proposed benefits package includes: • Blue Cross health insurance • Employer-provided claims-made malpractice insurance • 401(k) plan • Two weeks of vacation during the first year • Three additional days for CME • $1,500 annual CME allowance • Dedicated daily administrative time • No weekend clinic • No inpatient rounding • Partnership eligibility after the first year Schedule & Quality of Life The practice is designed to provide flexibility while maintaining continuity for patients. Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Clinical schedule: Approximately 4.5 days per week Patients: Approximately 20–30 per day Break: Approximately 1.5 hours Administrative time: Approximately 1 hour daily Weekends: Off Inpatient rounding: None Call: Low-volume telephone call, generally 1–2 calls per week Alternative scheduling arrangements, including a 9/80-style structure, may be discussed based on practice and physician needs. What We're Looking For We are looking for a Pediatrician who wants to become an important part of a growing private practice rather than simply fill a schedule. The ideal physician will bring: • MD or DO degree • Current unrestricted Texas medical license • Completion of an accredited Pediatric residency • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics • Interest in comprehensive outpatient pediatric care • Comfort treating patients from newborn through young adulthood • Interest in pediatric behavioral and mental health concerns • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • A collaborative and patient-centered approach • Enthusiasm for building a patient panel and growing a practice • Initiative and a “go-getter” mentality • Interest in mentorship, professional growth, and potentially future partnership Both new grads and experienced Pediatricians are encouraged to apply. Mentorship & Growth For a new graduate or early-career physician, this position provides the opportunity to practice alongside an experienced pediatrician and receive direct mentorship while developing clinical confidence and building an independent patient panel. For an experienced physician, the opportunity offers greater autonomy and the ability to contribute directly to the growth and direction of an independent practice. For either, the goal is the same: create a long-term professional home with the possibility of progressing from employed physician to practice partner. Interview & Onboarding Process We want the interview process to be straightforward: Step 1: Recruiter screening Step 2: Zoom interview with the physician owner Step 3: Offer and credentialing Physician credentialing is expected to take approximately 3–6 months, depending on licensing, payer enrollment, and individual circumstances. Why Corpus Christi? This opportunity offers something increasingly difficult to find in medicine: the chance to practice comprehensive pediatrics in an independent setting while having a genuine path toward ownership. You can build relationships with patients and families, develop your own patient panel, have weekends away from the clinic, avoid inpatient rounding, receive physician mentorship, and participate directly in the future growth of the practice. For the right Pediatrician, this isn't intended to be simply the next job. It's an opportunity to help build the practice you may eventually own.
