Marine Corps MOS 2621, now titled Communications Intelligence/Electromagnetic Warfare Operator and formerly the Special Communications Signals Collection Operator, is one of the most specialized and operationally demanding jobs in Marine intelligence. 2621s are tactical SIGINT collectors: they deploy forward with Marine infantry units, Radio Battalions (1st and 2nd Radio Bn), and MEU detachments to operate ground-based signals collection equipment that intercepts, geolocates, and exploits adversary communications and electronic emissions in real time.
This is not a desk job. 2621s operate systems like the AN/PRD-13 SOF SIGINT Manpack, the AN/PRD-15 Prophet Ground, and VSAT-based collection platforms in field environments — sometimes humping equipment through the same terrain as the infantry they support.
